Postdoc & PhD Retreat 2023
Joint Postdoc & PhD Retreat is a two-day conference aiming to bring together Postdocs and PhD students from different fields and partner institutions working in life sciences, material sciences, chemistry and physics. This year's meeting is taking place in the OREA Resort Devět Skal in Milovy, Czech Republic. You can look forward to invited lectures held by the foremost scientists in life and material science coming from both Czech Republic and abroad, a series of student talks and a poster session. Join us for this adventure, exchange your experiences and broaden your network of scientific contacts.

Venue and accommodation
The retreat takes place at the OREA Resort Devět Skal on October 26th - 27th 2023. Accommodation is in double rooms in the hotel. If you plan to arrive by your own car, please let us know. It is possible to park at the hotel for 100 CZK. IMPORTANT: Please bring your passport (international participants) or ID card (Czech participants). It is necessary for the hotel registration.
Transportation
From Brno to Devět Skal
On Thursday, Oct. 26th, the bus from Brno will be leaving from a bus stop in the Rooseveltova street (next to Janáček’s theatre) at 8:00 a.m., as indicated in the map below. We kindly ask you to be there at least 10 minutes before the departure. The approximate time of arrival at the venue is 10:00 a.m. In case of any inconvenience, please contact the organizers.
From Devět Skal to Brno
The bus back to Brno will depart after an afternoon hike on Friday. The departure will be between 4:00 and 5:00 p.m., depending on the weather and hence the duration of the hike. At the latest we well be back in Brno at 7:00 p.m.
Meals
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be served in the hotel restaurant. Coffee breaks will be served in front of the conference rooms.
Programme
Friday hike
On Friday after lunch we will go for a hike in the neighbouring highlands. The duration of the hike will be approximately 2.5 hours but if the weather is too unforgiving, we may shorten it accordingly. Below you can find preliminary route plan for the hike, if you click on the map you can explore it in more detail.
If you are planning to join the hike, please bring appropriate shoes and clothing.
UPDATE (Wed 17:00): So far the weather forecasts some rain on Friday afternoon. Those who want to go we recommend a raincoat, for the rest we are trying to arrange for an earlier departure of one of the two buses.
